SENATE RESOLUTION
2
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3
to learn of the death of Joan Kay Cully; and
4
WHEREAS, Joan Cully was born to Alice and Stanley
5
Talkington in Springfield on December 11, 1942; she married
6
Charles Edward "Ed" Cully at Little Flower Church in
7
Springfield on May 23, 1964; and
8
WHEREAS, Joan Cully worked for Illinois Bell and the
9
Illinois Department of Public Health before pursuing her
10
lifelong dream of owning her own business, Brimmen Baskets;
11
and
12
WHEREAS, Joan Cully was a dedicated volunteer at Memorial
13
Medical Center, where she generously gave her time and service
14
to others; and
15
WHEREAS, Joan Cully enjoyed maintaining an active
16
lifestyle through aerobics, racquetball, and running, notably
17
completing a marathon at the age of 40; she maintained close
18
bonds with her Springfield High School reunion group,
19
neighbors in Valley View and Country Club Estates, and members
20
of her Friday Night Dinner Group; and

WHEREAS, Joan Cully, known for her kindness, her grace,
2
and her unwavering devotion to her family and friends, touched
3
many lives through her patience and love; and
4
WHEREAS, Joan Cully was preceded in death by her husband
5
of 59 years, Charles E. "Ed" Cully; her daughter, Susan Cully
6
McCord; her brother, Jack Talkington; her parents; and her
7
stepfather, Lewie Huson; and
8
WHEREAS, Joan Cully is survived by her daughters, Leslie
9
Cully Senne and Lori (Michael Coffey) Cully Coffey; six
10
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
11
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
12
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13
Joan Kay Cully and extend our sincere condolences to her
14
family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
15
further
16
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17
presented to the family of Joan Cully as an expression of our
18
deepest sympathy.
