SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3
to learn of the death of James Reid of Canton, who passed away
4
on February 24, 2026; and

5

WHEREAS, James Reid was born to Dewey and Audrey (Winner)
6
Reid in Canton on March 9, 1940; he married Edna Ryan on June
7
4, 1971; and

8

WHEREAS, James Reid served in the United States Air Force
9
from July 1958 to March 1962, and he proceeded to serve in the
10
Illinois Air National Guard from August 1963 until his
11
retirement in September 1995; and

12

WHEREAS, James Reid was a former member of the Canton
13
Moose Lodge; he enjoyed traveling and reading; most of all, he
14
loved spending time with his family; and

15

WHEREAS, James Reid was preceded in death by his wife of 29
16
years, Edna; his parents; and his brothers, Robert, Bernard,
17
and Daryl; and

18

WHEREAS, James Reid is survived by his children, Kathy
19
Lock and Larry Cook; his grandchildren, Larry (the late Sarah)
20
Cook, Tammy (Lance) Tindall, and Jeff Lock; 16

great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and
2
many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

3

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
4
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5
James Reid and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
6
friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

7

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8
presented to the family of James Reid as an expression of our
9
deepest sympathy.
