SENATE RESOLUTION
2
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3
congratulate the Veterans Assistance Commission of Lake County
4
on its 100th anniversary; and
5
WHEREAS, The Veterans Assistance Commission of Lake County
6
was founded on May 27, 1926 under the authority granted by the
7
Illinois Military Veterans Assistance Act to create a
8
county-based system of veteran support governed by veterans
9
themselves, providing the just, necessary, and needed services
10
for all veterans and their families, reflecting Illinois'
11
enduring commitment to those who wore the uniform; and
12
WHEREAS, The Veterans Assistance Commission of Lake County
13
has remained steadfast for 100 years in its mission to serve
14
those who have served our nation, ensuring access to emergency
15
financial assistance, housing support, transportation,
16
employment resources, and advocacy; and
17
WHEREAS, The Veterans Assistance Commission of Lake
18
County, throughout its distinguished history, has assisted
19
thousands of veterans from all branches of the United States
20
Armed Forces, including those who served during World War II,
21
the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, and the Global
22
War on Terror; and

WHEREAS, The Veterans Assistance Commission of Lake County
2
has worked collaboratively with local, state, and federal
3
partners, including the United States Department of Veterans
4
Affairs and numerous veteran service organizations, to ensure
5
veterans receive the benefits and recognition they have
6
earned; and
7
WHEREAS, The Veterans Assistance Commission of Lake County
8
has demonstrated exemplary stewardship, fiscal responsibility,
9
and compassion in addressing the evolving needs of veterans
10
over the course of a century; therefore, be it
11
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
12
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the
13
Veterans Assistance Commission of Lake County on its 100th
14
anniversary; and be it further
15
RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
16
presented to the Veterans Assistance Commission of Lake County
17
in Gurnee and Superintendent Andrew Tangen as a symbol of our
18
respect and esteem.
