SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3
to learn of the death of Dale R. Young of Brimfield, who passed
4
away on February 7, 2026; and

5

WHEREAS, Dale Young, the son of George and Mary Young, was
6
born in Bloomington on June 12, 1939; he graduated from Peoria
7
High School and Bradley University; he served in the United
8
States Army; he married Gloria Closen on November 22, 1962,
9
and she preceded him in death in 2000; he married Myra Welk on
10
September 29, 2001; and

11

WHEREAS, Dale Young enjoyed a long, successful career in
12
semi-trailer sales, repairs, and maintenance, first working
13
for Road Equipment before spending most of his career as
14
owner, vice president, and general manager for Jim Hawk Truck
15
and Trailer in East Peoria; and

16

WHEREAS, Dale Young was an avid athlete and fitness
17
enthusiast who played semi-professional hockey and enjoyed
18
boating, horseback riding, trail driving, skiing, playing
19
racquetball, golfing, swimming, and other athletic activities;
20
he was also a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast and saw much of
21
the United States from the seats of his Honda Gold Wings; and

WHEREAS, Dale Young enjoyed a very close relationship with
2
his entire family, valuing all the time they spent together;
3
and

4

WHEREAS, Dale Young was preceded in death by his parents
5
and his sister, Marjorie; and

6

WHEREAS, Dale Young is survived by his wife of 24 years,
7
Myra; his children, Kimberly Young and Christopher Young; his
8
stepchildren, William (Gail) Welk, Ronald (Christina) Welk,
9
and Leslie Welk; one granddaughter; five step-grandchildren;
10
and nine great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

11

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
12
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13
Dale R. Young and extend our sincere condolences to his
14
family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15
further

16

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17
presented to the family of Dale Young as an expression of our
18
deepest sympathy.
