SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3
to learn of the death of Suzanne "Sue" Oehrlein, who passed
4
away on March 21, 2026; and

5

WHEREAS, Sue Oehrlein, the daughter of Wilfred and
6
Maralynn Young, was born in Chicago on May 30, 1941; she
7
married Burke Oehrlein; and

8

WHEREAS, Sue Oehrlein worked as a certified public
9
accountant with her husband, Burke, in their accounting
10
business for 40 years and was respected for her dedication and
11
professionalism; and

12

WHEREAS, Sue Oehrlein was a Girl Scout volunteer for 42
13
years, proudly serving as a leader for each of her three
14
daughters; she served on the School District 62 Foundation
15
board for 18 years and was an active member of P.E.O. Chapter
16
HL; and

17

WHEREAS, Sue Oehrlein's children and grandchildren were
18
the greatest joy of her life; she lived by the philosophy that
19
one should make new friends but keep the old, for one is silver
20
and the other gold; and

WHEREAS, Sue Oehrlein was preceded in death by her
2
brothers, Thomas and Stephen Young; and

3

WHEREAS, Sue Oehrlein is survived by her husband of 44
4
years, Burke; her siblings, Richard and James; her children,
5
Laureen (David) McParlane, Victoria Jones, Ashley (Josh)
6
Lindstrom, and Paul (Sarah) Oehrlein; and thirteen
7
grandchildren; therefore, be it

8

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
9
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10
Suzanne "Sue" Oehrlein and extend our sincere condolences to
11
her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
12
further

13

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14
presented to the family of Sue Oehrlein as an expression of our
15
deepest sympathy.
