SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3
congratulate the Belvidere Lions Club on its 80th anniversary
4
and eight decades of service to the Belvidere community; and

5

WHEREAS, The original Belvidere Lions Club was organized
6
on March 21, 1939, and a formal charter ceremony was held at
7
Immanuel Lutheran Church School on October 4, 1939; and

8

WHEREAS, The Belvidere Lions Club expanded its impact by
9
sponsoring the Harvard Lions Club in 1942, and the Club
10
sponsored new Lions clubs in Genoa, Kirkland, Marengo, Capron,
11
Poplar Grove, and Cherry Valley; and

12

WHEREAS, After being disbanded during World War Two, the
13
Belvidere Lions Club was reorganized and officially
14
rechartered on April 27, 1946; and

15

WHEREAS, The Belvidere Lions Club has long been known as a
16
hands-on, hardworking organization, sponsoring many large and
17
memorable projects within the community, including Heritage
18
Days, the Boone County Fair, the Fish and Fun competition, and
19
more; and

20

WHEREAS, One current initiative of the Belvidere Lions

Club is the development of an inclusive, ADA-compliant
2
playground that is being designed to remove physical and
3
social barriers, ensuring that children of all abilities can
4
play and interact together; and

5

WHEREAS, The Belvidere Lions Club has embodied the spirit
6
of service, leadership, and compassion that defines Lions
7
Clubs International for the past 80 years, supported by a
8
strong foundation rooted in volunteerism, integrity, and a
9
deep sense of civic responsibility; therefore, be it

10

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
11
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the
12
Belvidere Lions Club on the occasion of its 80-year
13
anniversary, and we wish the Club all the best in its future
14
endeavors; and be it further

15

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16
presented to the Belvidere Lions Club as a symbol of our esteem
17
and respect.
