SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3
congratulate the Rialto Square Theatre on the occasion of its
4
100th anniversary; and

5

WHEREAS, The Rialto Square Theatre in Joliet stands as one
6
of the State's most treasured cultural and architectural
7
landmarks, first opening its doors in 1926 as a grand movie
8
palace and vaudeville venue; and

9

WHEREAS, The Rialto Square Theatre, designed in the
10
opulent style of the era, has long been celebrated for its
11
remarkable interior, historic significance, and enduring
12
beauty, earning recognition as a symbol of artistic excellence
13
and community pride; and

14

WHEREAS, The Rialto Square Theatre has served as a vital
15
center for the performing arts for 100 years, hosting
16
countless performances, concerts, films, and community events
17
that have enriched the cultural life of Joliet, Will County,
18
and the entire State of Illinois; and

19

WHEREAS, The Rialto Square Theatre has demonstrated
20
extraordinary resilience, having been lovingly restored and
21
preserved through the dedicated efforts of community leaders,

preservationists, and supporters committed to safeguarding its
2
legacy for future generations; and

WHEREAS, The Rialto Square Theatre continues to inspire
4
audiences and foster a shared appreciation for the arts,
5
history, and civic engagement, standing as a testament to the
6
enduring importance of cultural institutions in strengthening
7
communities; therefore, be it

8

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
9
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the
10
Rialto Square Theatre on the occasion of its 100th
11
anniversary, celebrating a century of artistic achievement,
12
historic preservation, and community service; and be it
13
further

14

RESOLVED, That we commend all those who have contributed
15
to the success and preservation of the Rialto Square Theatre
16
over the past century, and we extend our best wishes for its
17
continued vitality and success for generations to come; and be
18
it further

19

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20
presented to the representatives of the Rialto Square Theatre
21
as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
