SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Child care has been and continues to be a
3
lifeline for families, communities, and the economy; and

4

WHEREAS, The child care system supports children's growth,
5
development, and educational advancement while creating
6
positive economic impacts for families and communities; and

7

WHEREAS, Child care providers are essential to the health
8
of our communities by fostering safe and welcoming spaces,
9
supporting working families, and creating enriching
10
environments where children develop lifelong skills; and

11

WHEREAS, Support for affordable, accessible, and
12
high-quality child care represents a worthy commitment to help
13
families work, to support children's healthy development and
14
learning, and to keep our economy growing; and

15

WHEREAS, Child Care Aware® of America and organizations
16
nationwide plan to recognize child care providers this year on
17
May 8, 2026; therefore, be it

18

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
19
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we declare May 8, 2026
20
as Provider Appreciation Day in the State of Illinois, and we

urge all citizens to recognize child care providers for their

important work and how valuable they are to our communities.
