SENATE RESOLUTION
2
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3
commend Frank J. Mautino on the occasion of his retirement
4
from public service after faithfully serving the people of
5
this State as Illinois Auditor General for a decade; and
6
WHEREAS, The Office of the Auditor General is one of the
7
most important oversight institutions in Illinois State
8
government, charged with conducting independent financial,
9
compliance, and performance audits to ensure that public funds
10
are managed responsibly and that State agencies operate in
11
accordance with the law; and
12
WHEREAS, In carrying out these responsibilities, the
13
Office of the Auditor General serves as a vital resource to the
14
Illinois General Assembly, providing legislators and the
15
public with objective and reliable information regarding the
16
administration and performance of State programs; and
17
WHEREAS, Since assuming office in 2016, Frank Mautino has
18
led the Office of the Auditor General with professionalism,
19
diligence, and integrity, overseeing the completion of
20
hundreds of audits of State agencies, universities, boards,
21
commissions, and programs; and

WHEREAS, Frank Mautino's audits have provided transparency
2
into State operations, identified opportunities for improved
3
internal controls and efficiencies, and ensured compliance
4
with State and federal laws governing the use of public
5
resources; and
6
WHEREAS, Through Frank Mautino's leadership, the Office of
7
the Auditor General has continued its long-standing reputation
8
for independence and nonpartisan professionalism, providing
9
fair and thorough evaluations of State government operations
10
while maintaining the confidence of both the legislative and
11
executive branches; and
12
WHEREAS, As Illinois Auditor General, Frank Mautino's work
13
has played an essential role in safeguarding taxpayer dollars
14
and strengthening accountability in State government, thereby
15
helping to maintain the public's trust in governmental
16
institutions; and
17
WHEREAS, During his tenure, Frank Mautino has worked
18
closely with legislators, committee staff, and State agencies
19
to ensure that audit findings were clearly communicated and
20
that recommendations for improved practices and stronger
21
financial oversight were carefully considered; and
22
WHEREAS, Under Frank Mautino's leadership, the reports

issued by the Office of the Auditor General have assisted
2
policymakers in addressing operational deficiencies,
3
strengthening financial management practices, and improving
4
the delivery of services to the people of Illinois; and
5
WHEREAS, Under Frank Mautino's stewardship, the Office of
6
the Auditor General, which has historically played a central
7
role in supporting the oversight responsibilities of the
8
General Assembly, has continued to serve as a trusted source
9
of independent analysis and evaluation of State government
10
programs; and
11
WHEREAS, Prior to his appointment as Auditor General,
12
Frank Mautino devoted many years to public service as a member
13
of the Illinois House of Representatives, representing his
14
district with dedication and working on issues related to
15
fiscal responsibility, State operations, and public policy;
16
and
17
WHEREAS, Throughout his career in public service, Frank
18
Mautino has demonstrated a commitment to improving government,
19
strengthening accountability, and ensuring that the
20
institutions of State government operate effectively and
21
responsibly; and
22
WHEREAS, Frank Mautino's completion of his ten-year term

as Auditor General marks the conclusion of an important
2
chapter of service to the State of Illinois and reflects a
3
career dedicated to public accountability and good governance;
4
therefore, be it
5
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
6
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we commend Frank J.
7
Mautino for his decade of service as Illinois Auditor General
8
and express our appreciation for his dedication to
9
strengthening transparency, accountability, and fiscal
10
stewardship in State government; and be it further
11
RESOLVED, That we thank Frank Mautino for his years of
12
faithful public service and offer our best wishes for
13
continued success, health, and happiness in his retirement;
14
and be it further
15
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16
presented to Frank Mautino as a symbol of our respect and
17
appreciation.
