SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Our Community Salutes is a national nonprofit
3
organization dedicated to recognizing, honoring, and
4
supporting high school seniors who have chosen to enlist in
5
the Armed Forces of the United States immediately following
6
graduation; and

7

WHEREAS, Our Community Salutes was founded by educator and
8
former United States Army officer Dr. Kenneth Hartman in 2009
9
to provide enlistees and their parents with guidance,
10
information, resources, and meaningful community support
11
during the transition from civilian life to military service;
12
and

13

WHEREAS, Each year, thousands of high school seniors
14
across the United States make the honorable decision to enlist
15
in the Armed Forces, including the United States Army, Navy,
16
Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Space Force,
17
demonstrating courage, discipline, and an unwavering
18
commitment to duty; and

19

WHEREAS, Our Community Salutes serves enlistees by
20
providing recognition and resources that assist in their
21
successful transition into military service, ensuring they are
22
celebrated and supported by their communities; and

WHEREAS, Our Community Salutes also serves parents,
2
guardians, and families by offering information, connection,
3
and encouragement as they support their sons and daughters
4
during this important life transition; and

5

WHEREAS, Our Community Salutes Chicagoland has
6
demonstrated exceptional leadership in Illinois by hosting
7
Enlistee Recognition Ceremonies that bring together more than
8
70 high school enlistees and their families, along with
9
educators, veterans, and community partners, to ensure that
10
those who choose Active, Guard, and Reserve military service
11
are recognized, supported, and connected to a strong local
12
network from the moment they enlist; and

13

WHEREAS, Our Community Salutes Chicagoland strengthens
14
military family support systems across the region by fostering
15
connections among enlistees, families, and veteran and
16
community organizations, ensuring support continues beyond the
17
ceremony; therefore, be it

18

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
19
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we commend and
20
recognize Our Community Salutes for its outstanding service in
21
honoring high school military enlistees and supporting their
22
families and communities; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2
presented to Our Community Salutes as a symbol of our esteem
3
and respect.
