SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3
to learn of the death of Officer John G. Bartholomew of the
4
Chicago Police Department, who died in the line of duty on
5
April 25, 2026; and

6

WHEREAS, Officer Bartholomew, the son of George and Kiki
7
(Kutulas) Bartholomew, was born in Evanston on April 21, 1988;
8
and

9

WHEREAS, Officer Bartholomew was a 10-year, 11-month
10
veteran of the Chicago Police Department who was assigned to
11
the 17th District in Albany Park at the time of his passing; he
12
was deeply dedicated to his work, serving his community with
13
honor, integrity, and an unwavering sense of duty; and

14

WHEREAS, Officer Bartholomew had a strong love of history,
15
possessed a passion for sharing his knowledge with others,
16
found joy in life's simple pleasures, such as good food, and
17
was a fan of the character Batman; and

18

WHEREAS, Officer Bartholomew lived a life defined by love,
19
loyalty, and service; he was known for his generosity and his
20
willingness to offer help without hesitation, and he will be
21
remembered as a devoted family man who always put others

first; and

WHEREAS, Officer Bartholomew was preceded in death by his
3
grandparents, James and Patricia Bartholomew and Rev. Fr. John
4
and Presbytera Angie Kutulas; and

5

WHEREAS, Officer Bartholomew is survived by his wife,
6
Renee (Limbers) Bartholomew; his children, Oliver Buffurine,
7
Miles Buffurine, and Sophia Bartholomew; his siblings, James
8
Bartholomew and Paula (Jonathan) Mueller; his in-laws; his
9
aunts and uncles; his cousins; his nieces and nephews; and his
10
friends and colleagues; therefore, be it

11

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
12
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13
Officer John G. Bartholomew of the Chicago Police Department
14
and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and
15
all who knew and loved him; and be it further

16

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17
presented to the family of Officer Bartholomew as an
18
expression of our deepest sympathy.
