SENATE RESOLUTION

2

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3
to learn of the death of Donald Eldridge Brandon, who passed
4
away on May 7, 2026; and

5

WHEREAS, Donald Brandon was born to Joe and Edna Sanders
6
Brandon in Aberdeen, Mississippi on March 8, 1938; he
7
committed to his faith at an early age, attending Mt. Moriah
8
Missionary Baptist Church in Aberdeen, Mississippi; he was
9
educated in the Aberdeen Public Schools system, and he
10
graduated from Shivers High School; he married Charlotte
11
Brown, and he later married Arlene Haley Williams; and

12

WHEREAS, Donald Brandon worked as a laborer for Boston
13
Richie Deluxe General Hauling and as a security guard for
14
Lincoln Land Community College and for various security guard
15
contractors for the State of Illinois; and

16

WHEREAS, Donald Brandon attended Union Baptist Church,
17
where he served as an usher; he was involved in youth sports
18
and coached many baseball and softball teams; and

19

WHEREAS, Donald Brandon was a great athlete who played
20
baseball and football, and he was an avid sportsman who
21
enjoyed hunting and fishing; he could cook anything grown,

hunted, or caught, including frying fish, roasting wild game,
2
and cooking greens and sweet potatoes; and

3

WHEREAS, Donald Brandon, affectionately known as "Uncle
4
Duck" and "PaPa Don", had a strong work ethic and a deep sense
5
of family pride; and

6

WHEREAS, Donald Brandon was preceded in death by his
7
parents; his second wife, Arlene; his son, Donald; and his
8
siblings, Joe Brandon Jr. and Velma Rucker; and

9

WHEREAS, Donald Brandon is survived by his sisters, Gladys
10
Richie and Betty White; his sister-in-law, Janie Brandon; his
11
stepchildren, Roy Williams, Michael (Doris) Williams, Tina
12
(Tony) Crawford, Debra (Lorenzo) Link, and Donna Ester; three
13
grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a host of
14
other relatives and friends; therefore, be it

15

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
16
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17
Donald Eldridge Brandon and extend our sincere condolences to
18
his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
19
further

20

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21
presented to the family of Donald Brandon as an expression of
