SENATE RESOLUTION
2
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3
commend Richard Kwasneski on his years of service to the Pace
4
Board of Directors; and
5
WHEREAS, Richard Kwasneski was originally appointed as the
6
representative from Southwest Cook County to the Pace Board of
7
Directors on August 28, 2002; and
8
WHEREAS, Richard Kwasneski was appointed as chairman of
9
the Pace Board of Directors on December 7, 2006; and
10
WHEREAS, Richard Kwasneski is the longest serving chairman
11
of the Pace Board of Directors, serving nearly 20 years and
12
being reappointed by Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, and
13
Will County chairs for five consecutive terms; and
14
WHEREAS, During Richard Kwasneski's tenure, he has been
15
instrumental in advocating for Pace and regional transit, and
16
as a result, Pace is well respected for the agency's
17
innovative approach in meeting the mobility needs of the
18
six-county region; and
19
WHEREAS, Richard Kwasneski's forward-thinking approach
20
when providing service to suburban riders has resulted in the

successful implementation of many programs, such as Bus on
2
Shoulder along I-55 and I-94, Flex Lane Express Service along
3
I-90, Pulse Rapid Transit, On Demand, and VanGo; and
4
WHEREAS, During his tenure, Richard Kwasneski obtained the
5
largest investment in suburban transit infrastructure through
6
the Rebuild Illinois Program, which provided funding for
7
garages in Plainfield, Elgin, Wheeling, and Bridgeview,
8
passenger facilities in Joliet, Schaumburg, and Harvey, and
9
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) paratransit technology,
10
all of which will help enhance the transit system for
11
generations to come; and
12
WHEREAS, Richard Kwasneski is a dedicated public servant
13
who made significant contributions for the betterment of Pace,
14
and he has provided strong leadership with dedication and
15
compassion to the riding public and region; therefore, be it
16
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
17
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we commend Richard
18
Kwasneski on his years of service to the Pace Board of
19
Directors, and we celebrate his great achievements; and be it
20
further
21
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22
presented to Richard Kwasneski as an expression of our esteem

and respect.
