SENATE RESOLUTION

2

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3
to learn of the death of Dennis Eugene Laria of Elmwood Park,
4
who passed away on May 20, 2026; and

5

WHEREAS, Dennis Laria, born on January 2, 1945, was raised
6
in the Taylor Street neighborhood and attended Saint Ignatius
7
College Prep in Chicago; later in life, he attended DePaul
8
University, where he earned his bachelor's degree at the age
9
of 50; and

10

WHEREAS, Dennis Laria spent most of his career as a vice
11
president in banking, earning the trust and respect of
12
colleagues and clients alike; after retiring, he continued his
13
commitment to helping others through his service at Proviso
14
Leyden Council for Community Action (PLCCA) in Maywood,
15
supporting community programs with compassion and dedication
16
for many years; and

17

WHEREAS, Dennis Laria, while working towards his
18
bachelor's degree, earned a black belt in tae kwon do,
19
reflecting his discipline and perseverance; he was also a
20
dedicated runner for many years and completed multiple
21
marathons, embracing the challenge and joy of long-distance
22
running; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Laria loved traveling and spent many years
2
exploring the world with his wife, Alice, and he especially
3
cherished their many trips to Italy with family; he also
4
valued the long-term friendships that enriched his life,
5
maintaining close childhood and adult friendships that lasted
6
until his passing; and

7

WHEREAS, Dennis Laria was a devoted husband, an adoring
8
father, and a loving cousin, uncle, and friend to many; he will
9
be remembered for his thoughtfulness, intelligence, dignity,
10
and the rare ability to accept everyone without judgment; and

11

WHEREAS, Dennis Laria was preceded in death by his mother,
12
Antoinette Laria, and his brother, Joseph Laria; and

13

WHEREAS, Dennis Laria is survived by his wife of 60 years,
14
Alice Laria; his daughters, Denise (John) Laria Burns,
15
Jennifer (Mark) Siddons, and Amy Laria; six grandchildren; and
16
his great-granddaughter; therefore, be it

17

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
18
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19
Dennis Eugene Laria and extend our sincere condolences to his
20
family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
21
further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2
presented to the family of Dennis Laria as an expression of our
3
deepest sympathy.
