SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3
to learn of the death of Kamaria Laurette Gross, who passed
4
away on April 26, 2025; and

5

WHEREAS, Kamaria Gross was born to Karen Laurette Bozeman
6
and James Oliver Gross in Chicago on January 24, 1984; she
7
attended the Beasley Academy Center; she graduated from
8
Whitney Young High School with honors in 2002, where she was
9
involved in extracurricular activities, including as a member
10
of the dance team and co-captain of the pompon squad; and

11

WHEREAS, Kamaria Gross attended business school and earned
12
a bachelor's degree from the school of communications at
13
Howard University in Washington, D.C., where she was inducted
14
into the Global Ambassadors Program, traveling to Austria, the
15
Czech Republic, and Hungary and was a member of the Alpha Kappa
16
Alpha Sorority, Alpha Chapter; she later received a master's
17
degree in human resources from Loyola Business School in May
18
2011; and

19

WHEREAS, Kamaria Gross completed two summer internships at
20
the Chicago Housing Authority; she also worked in human
21
resources at the University of Chicago Regenstein Library,
22
with vendor compliance at the Chicago Housing Authority, and

in vender contract compliance and management with the security
2
department of the Chicago Transit Authority; and

3

WHEREAS, Kamaria Gross is survived by her parents; her
4
daughter, Kaiden Collins; her partner and friend, Michael
5
Collins; her siblings, Jabari Gross and Robyn Wheatley McCoy;
6
her aunts, Melissa Bozeman Wolfsohn, Levada Gross Moore, and
7
Evelyn Gross; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins;
8
therefore, be it

9

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
10
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11
Kamaria Laurette Gross and extend our sincere condolences to
12
her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
13
further

14

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15
presented to the family of Kamaria Gross as an expression of
16
our deepest sympathy.
