the

the

college
may

intelligence
during
classroom
instructional

time
and
during
the
completion
of
course
or
program
work.

(b)
When
a
faculty
or
staff
member
of
the
community
college
17
may
utilize
artificial
intelligence
during
the
completion
of
18
work-related
duties.

(c)
Prohibitions
related
to
the
use
of
artificial
20
intelligence
by
students
attending
the
community
college,
21
faculty
members
of
the
community
college,
and
staff
members
of
22
the
community
college.

(2)
Publish
the
policy
on
the
community
college’s
internet

site.

(3)
Provide
a
copy
of
the
policy
to
the
director
of
the

department
of
education.

this

machine-based

for
any

including

Artificial
intelligence

policies.

1.
The
board
of
directors
of
each
school
district
shall
do

all
of
the
following:

a.
On
or
before
July
1,
2028,
adopt
a
policy
related
to

artificial
intelligence
that
describes
all
of
the
following:

(1)
When
a
student
enrolled
in
the
school
district
may
29
utilize
artificial
intelligence
during
classroom
instructional
30
time
and
during
the
completion
of
school
work.

(2)
When
an
employee
of
the
school
district
may
utilize

artificial
intelligence
during
the
completion
of
work-related

duties.

the

inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance

the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
requires
community
colleges,
school
districts,
and
16
institutions
under
the
control
of
the
state
board
of
regents
to
17
adopt
policies
related
to
the
use
of
artificial
intelligence
by
18
students
and
employees.
19
The
bill
requires
the
board
of
directors
of
each
community
20
college
and
the
board
of
directors
of
each
school
district
to,
21
on
or
before
July
1,
2028,
adopt
a
policy
related
to
artificial
22
intelligence
that
describes
when
a
student
may
utilize
23
artificial
intelligence
during
classroom
instructional
time
and
24
during
the
completion
of
course
or
program
work,
when
employees
25
may
utilize
artificial
intelligence
during
the
completion
of
26
work-related
duties,
and
prohibitions
related
to
the
use
of
27
artificial
intelligence
by
students
and
employees.
Community
28
colleges
and
school
districts
are
required
to
publish
the
29
policy
on
their
respective
internet
sites
and
provide
a
copy
of
30
the
policy
to
the
director
of
the
department
of
education
(DE).
31
The
director
of
DE
is
required
to
publish
the
policies
on
DE’s
32
internet
site.
33
The
bill
requires
the
state
board
of
regents
to
direct
the
34
institutions
of
higher
education
under
its
control
to,
on
or
35

adopt
similar
policies.
The
institutions

are
required
to
publish
the
policies
on
the
institutions’

respective
internet
sites
and
provide
copies
of
the
policies

the
state
board
of
regents.
In
addition,
the
state
board
of

regents
is
required
to
publish
such
policies
on
the
state
board
5
of
regents’
internet
site.

The
bill
defines
“artificial
intelligence”
to
mean
any
7
machine-based
system
that,
for
any
explicit
or
implicit
8
objective,
infers
from
the
inputs
the
system
receives
to
9
generate
outputs,
including
content,
decisions,
predictions,
10
or
recommendations,
that
can
influence
physical
or
virtual
11
environments.
