is

amended

by

adding

the

following

new

subsection:

SUBSECTION

A

person

shall

not

discharge

a

firearm

from

within

or

on

a

motor

vehicle,

as

defined

in

section

321.1,

4

subsection

42,

on

a

public

roadway,

as

defined

in

section

5

321.1,

subsection

65.

EXPLANATION

The

inclusion

of

this

explanation

does

not

constitute

agreement

with

8

the

explanation’s

substance

by

the

members

of

the

general

assembly.

This

bill

prohibits

discharging

a

firearm

on

a

public

10

roadway

from

within

or

on

a

motor

vehicle.

Under

current

11

law,

a

person

is

prohibited

from

shooting

a

rifle

over

public

12

waters,

public

highways,

or

any

railroad

right-of-way,

and

is

13

prohibited

from

shooting

a

shotgun

with

a

slug

load,

a

pistol,

14

or

a

revolver

over

public

roadways.

A

person

who

violates

15

the

bill

is

guilty

of

a

simple

misdemeanor

punishable

as

a

16

scheduled

violation

with

a

fine

of

$30.
