amended

adding

the

following

new

paragraph:

NEW

PARAGRAPH

.

i.

A

person

who

holds

a

valid

permit

to

carry

weapons

issued

under

this

chapter

and

who

for

any

lawful

4

purpose

carries

a

firearm

on

or

about

the

person’s

body,

while

5

the

firearm

remains

continuously

under

the

person’s

control.

EXPLANATION

The

inclusion

of

this

explanation

does

not

constitute

agreement

with

8

the

explanation’s

substance

by

the

members

of

the

general

assembly.

Under

current

law,

a

person

who

goes

armed

with,

carries,

10

or

transports

a

firearm

of

any

kind,

whether

concealed

or

not,

11

on

the

grounds

of

a

school

commits

a

class

“D”

felony,

with

12

certain

exceptions.

This

bill

allows

a

person

who

holds

a

valid

permit

to

carry

14

weapons

to

carry

weapons

on

the

grounds

of

a

school

if

the

15

person

carries

a

firearm

for

a

lawful

purpose

on

or

about

the

16

person’s

body,

and

the

firearm

remains

continuously

under

the

17

person’s

control.
