amended

to

read

as

Interest

on

support

debts.

Interest

accrues

shall

accrue

on

support

debts

at

the

rate

provided

in

section

535.3

for

court

judgments.

The

department

may

shall

collect

the

accrued

interest

but

is

not

required

to

maintain

interest

balance

accounts

on

support

debts,

and

a

court

order

shall

not

be

required

for

the

department

to

collect

the

accrued

interest

.

Child

support

services

may

waive

payment

of

the

interest

accrued

on

a

support

debt

if

the

waiver

will

facilitate

the

collection

the

support

debt.

bill

requires

the

department

of

health

and

human

collect

court

order.

current

law,

HHS

may

collect

the

accrued

interest

but

is

not

required

to

maintain

interest

balance

accounts

for

accrued

interest

on

support

debts.

The

bill

removes

language

related

to

HHS

maintaining

22

interest

balance

accounts

for

accrued

interest

on

support

23

debts.
