359.43,

subsection

4,

Code

2026,

is

amended

to

read

as

follows:

Of

the

levies

authorized

under

subsections

1

and

2

,

the

township

trustees

may

credit

to

a

reserve

account

annually

an

amount

not

to

exceed

thirty

cents

per

thousand

dollars

of

the

assessed

value

of

the

taxable

property

in

the

township

for

6

the

purchase

or

replacement

of

supplies

and

equipment

required

7

to

carry

out

the

services

specified

under

section

359.42

,

or

8

constructing

a

fire

station

.

Notwithstanding

section

12C.7

,

interest

earned

on

moneys

credited

to

the

reserve

account

shall

10

be

credited

to

the

reserve

account.

current

law,

township

trustees

are

authorized

to

levy

an

annual

tax

not

exceeding

$0.405,

$0.54,

or

$0.675

per

$1,000

of

assessed

value

of

the

taxable

property

in

the

township

17

for

the

purpose

of

fire

protection

and

emergency

services,

18

depending

on

services

offered

and

the

size

of

the

county

19

where

the

township

is

located.

If

the

levy

is

not

sufficient

20

to

provide

the

fire

protection

and

emergency

services,

then

21

the

township

may

levy

an

additional

annual

tax

not

exceeding

22

$0.2025

per

$1,000

of

assessed

value

of

the

taxable

property

23

in

the

township.

Of

the

moneys

collected

from

the

levies,

the

24

township

trustees

are

authorized

to

put

up

to

$0.30

per

$1,000

25

of

assessed

property

value

annually

into

a

reserve

account.

The

reserved

moneys

can

be

used

to

purchase

or

replace

supplies

27

and

equipment

required

for

fire

protection

and

emergency

28

services.

This

bill

allows

the

reserved

moneys

to

be

used

to

29

construct

a

fire

station.
