481A.54,

Code

2026,

is

amended

by

adding

1

the

following

new

subsection:

SUBSECTION

2A.

A

person

shall

not

shoot

any

rifle,

3

shotgun

with

a

slug

load,

pistol,

or

revolver

from

any

road.

For

purposes

of

this

subsection,

“road”

means

the

area

of

5

the

highway

right-of-way,

including

the

shoulders,

on

which

6

vehicles

normally

travel,

and

“shoulder”

means

the

portion

7

of

a

public

road

contiguous

to

the

traveled

way

for

the

8

accommodation

of

disabled

vehicles

and

for

emergency

use.

The

inclusion

of

this

explanation

does

This

bill

relates

to

shooting

from

roads.

The

bill

prohibits

13

a

person

from

shooting

any

rifle,

shotgun

with

a

slug

load,

14

pistol,

or

revolver

from

any

road.

The

bill

defines

“road”

as

15

the

area

of

the

highway

right-of-way,

including

the

shoulders,

16

on

which

vehicles

normally

travel,

and

“shoulder”

as

the

17

portion

of

a

public

road

contiguous

to

the

traveled

way

for

the

18

accommodation

of

disabled

vehicles

and

for

emergency

use.

The

19

bill

does

not

apply

to

any

peace

officer

or

military

personnel

20

in

the

performance

of

their

official

duties.

A

person

who

unlawfully

shoots

any

rifle,

shotgun,

pistol,

22

or

revolver

from

any

road

is

subject

to

a

scheduled

fine

of

23

$30.
