appropriated

from

the

911

emergency

communications

fund

created

in

section

34A.7A

to

the

department

homeland

security

and

emergency

management

for

the

fiscal

year

beginning

July

1,

2024,

and

ending

June

30,

2025,

the

following

amount,

or

so

much

thereof

as

is

necessary,

to

be

used

for

the

purposes

designated:

counties

to

repair

or

replace

E911

systems

damaged

destroyed

due

to

natural

disasters

in

calendar

year

a

population

between

and

Moneys

appropriated

this

moneys

appropriated

in

section

that

remain

unencumbered

or

unobligated

at

the

the

fiscal

shall

not

revert

but

shall

remain

available

for

expenditure

the

purposes

designated

until

the

of

the

succeeding

fiscal

year.

2.

EFFECTIVE

DATE.

This

Act,

being

deemed

of

immediate

importance,

takes

effect

upon

enactment.

inclusion

this

This

bill

relates

E911

system

repair

and

replacement.

Under

current

law,

moneys

are

collected

through

a

monthly

surcharge

of

$1

on

originating

service

numbers

in

the

state

for

911

services

and

allocated

by

the

director

of

the

department

of

homeland

security

and

emergency

management

(department)

in

a

31

prescribed

manner.

The

bill

appropriates

$2

million

to

the

department

for

33

the

purpose

of

providing

grants

to

counties

with

populations

34

between

16,000

and

16,500

to

repair

or

replace

E911

systems
