fees

a
student

the
semester
that
the
student
is

teaching
in
the

of
Iowa.

is
amended
by
adding
the

subsection:

“Student
teaching”
means
the

supervised
full-time
clinical
instructional
experience
in
a

teacher
preparation
program’s
final
year
in
which
the
student

teacher
assumes
responsibility
for
planning,
instruction,

and
assessment
in
the
classroom
of
a
cooperating
teacher
13
appropriately
licensed
in
the
subject
area
and
grade
level
14
endorsement
being
pursued.

is
amended
by
adding
the

following
new

institutions

higher

control
to
adopt
a
policy
that
requires

tuition
and
mandatory
fees
for
a
student

for
the
semester
that
the
student
is

teaching
in
the

state
of
Iowa,
as
defined
in
section
256.183.

This
bill
relates
to
a
waiver
of
tuition
and
mandatory
fees

at
regents
institutions
and
accredited
private
institutions
for

students
during
student
teaching
experiences
in
the
state.

The
bill
defines
“student
teaching”
as
the
supervised

experience
in
a

bill
requires
institutions
of
higher
learning
under
the

control
of
the
state
board
of
regents
to
adopt
a
policy
that

the
institution

waive
tuition
and
mandatory
fees

for
a
student
for
the
semester
that
the
student
is
student

teaching
in
the
state
of
Iowa.

In
addition,
the
bill
requires
accredited
private
6
institutions,
defined
in
Code
section
256.183
(Iowa
tuition
7
grants
program),
as
a
condition
of
participation
in
the
Iowa
8
tuition
grants
program,
to
adopt
a
policy
that
requires
the
9
institution
to
waive
tuition
and
mandatory
fees
for
a
student
10
while
the
student
is
student
teaching
in
the
state
of
Iowa.
