amended

adding

the

following

subparagraph

(e)

For

a

member

whose

first

month

of

entitlement

is

July

2026

or

later,

the

member

may

return

to

covered

employment

as

school

district

support

staff

or

a

coach

for

a

covered

employer

after

receiving

one

month

of

retirement

benefits.

EXPLANATION

inclusion

explanation

does

not

constitute

agreement

with

the

members

of

the

general

assembly.

Current

law

provides

that

a

member

has

a

bona

fide

retirement

for

purposes

of

the

Iowa

public

employees’

retirement

system

when

the

member

does

not

return

to

any

employment

with

a

covered

employer

until

the

member

has

qualified

for

at

least

15

one

calendar

month

of

retirement

benefits

and

the

member

16

does

not

return

to

covered

employment

until

the

member

has

17

qualified

for

no

fewer

than

four

calendar

months

of

retirement

18

benefits.

This

bill

provides

that

a

member

may

return

to

19

covered

employment

as

school

district

support

staff

or

a

coach

20

for

a

covered

employer

after

receiving

one

month

of

retirement

benefits.
