initiative

to

support

double

up

food

bucks

program

to

make

fresh

fruits

and

vegetables

sold

at

farmers

markets,

grocery

stores,

and

other

participating

locations

accessible

to

individuals

and

families

who

reside

in

this

state

and

receive

assistance

through

the

federal

supplemental

nutrition

assistance

program.

inclusion

this

This

bill

appropriates

$1

million

from

the

general

fund

of

the

state

to

the

department

of

health

and

human

services

for

FY

2025-2026,

in

addition

to

any

other

funding

appropriated

for

such

purpose

for

the

same

fiscal

year,

to

be

used

to

provide

a

grant

to

the

Iowa

healthiest

state

initiative

to

support

24

the

double

up

food

bucks

program.

The

program

makes

fresh

fruits

and

vegetables

sold

at

farmers

markets,

grocery

stores,

26

and

other

participating

locations

accessible

to

individuals

27

and

families

who

reside

in

this

state

and

receive

assistance

28

through

the

federal

supplemental

nutrition

assistance

program.
