amended

by

adding

the

following

new

subsection:

In

accordance

with

the

federal

Safe

Drinking

Water

Act

as

defined

in

section

455B.291,

post

on

the

department’s

internet

site

drinking

water

data

accessible

to

5

the

public

in

a

searchable,

user-friendly

database

that

allows

6

a

person

to

search

water

sample

data

in

this

state

at

least

by

7

specific

contaminant

type,

location,

and

public

water

supply

8

system,

and

that

allows

for

the

filtering

of

water

sample

data

9

by

the

date

in

which

the

water

sampling

occurred.

The

water

10

sample

data

shall

include

the

level

of

each

tested

possible

11

contaminant,

including

nitrates,

for

all

water

sampling

done

by

12

a

public

water

supply

system.

The

department’s

internet

site

13

shall

be

in

compliance

with

this

subsection

no

later

than

six

14

months

after

the

effective

date

of

this

Act.

The

inclusion

of

this

explanation

does

not

constitute

agreement

with

the

explanation’s

substance

by

the

members

of

the

general

assembly.

This

bill

relates

to

public

accessibility

to

water

sample

19

data.

The

bill

directs

the

director

of

the

department

of

20

natural

resources

(department)

to

post

water

sample

data

on

21

the

department’s

internet

site.

The

database

must

allow

users

22

to

search

data

by

specific

contaminant

type,

location,

and

23

public

water

supply

system,

and

to

filter

results

by

the

date

24

the

water

sampling

occurred.

The

bill

requires

the

posted

25

data

to

include

the

level

of

each

tested

possible

contaminant,

26

including

nitrates,

for

all

water

sampling

conducted

by

a

27

public

water

supply

system.

The

department’s

internet

site

28

must

be

in

compliance

with

the

bill

no

later

than

six

months

enactment.
