Acts,

to

read

as

follows:

FUTURE

REPEAL.

This

Act

is

repealed

December

31,

2026

upon

the

conclusion

of

the

bankruptcy

proceeding

described

in

section

2

of

this

Act,

including

all

appeals

thereto

.

EXPLANATION

The

inclusion

of

this

explanation

does

not

constitute

agreement

with

the

explanation’s

substance

by

the

members

of

the

general

assembly.

2024

Iowa

Acts,

chapter

1089,

establishes

a

limited

exception

to

the

statute

of

limitations

for

civil

actions

10

arising

from

injuries

resulting

from

sex

offenses

against

11

children.

The

exception

applies

only

to

actions

brought

for

12

the

purpose

of

making

a

claim

against

the

bankruptcy

estate

13

of

a

congressionally

chartered

organization

in

a

bankruptcy

14

proceeding

initiated

on

February

18,

2020.

Under

current

law,

15

2024

Iowa

Acts,

chapter

1089,

is

repealed

on

December

31,

2026.

This

bill

modifies

the

repeal

provision

to

provide

that

2024

17

Iowa

Acts,

chapter

1089,

is

repealed

upon

the

conclusion

of

the

18

bankruptcy

proceeding

described

in

the

2024

Act,

including

any

19

appeals

thereto.
