are

authorized

to

golf

carts

on

city

streets

by

persons

possessing

a

driver’s

license.

However,

a

golf

cart

is

prohibited

from

being

operated

on

a

city

street

which

is

a

primary

road

extension

through

the

city

but

is

allowed

to

cross

such

a

primary

road

extension.

Golf

carts

are

not

subject

to

22

the

vehicle

registration

requirements

under

Code

chapter

321

(motor

vehicles

and

law

of

the

road).

This

bill

prohibits

local

authorities

from

prohibiting

the

25

operation

of

golf

carts

on

city

streets

by

persons

possessing

a

26

valid

driver’s

license.

The

restrictions

on

the

operation

of

a

golf

cart

on

city

28

streets

under

current

law

remain

applicable,

including

that

29

golf

carts

must

be

equipped

with

a

slow

moving

vehicle

sign

and

30

a

bicycle

safety

flag,

must

be

operated

only

from

sunrise

to

31

sunset,

and

must

be

equipped

with

adequate

brakes

and

meet

any

32

other

safety

requirements

imposed

by

the

local

authority.
