Paid

bereavement

leave.

A

state

employee

shall

be

provided

up

to

three

days

of

paid

2

leave

following

the

death

of

a

parent,

child,

or

spouse

of

the

employee.

EXPLANATION

The

inclusion

of

this

explanation

does

not

constitute

agreement

with

the

explanation’s

substance

by

the

members

of

the

general

assembly.

This

bill

requires

a

state

employee

to

be

provided

up

to

8

three

days

of

paid

leave

following

the

death

of

an

employee’s

9

parent,

child,

or

spouse.

Under

current

rules

of

the

10

department

of

administrative

services,

a

state

employee

may

11

use

accrued

sick

leave,

not

to

exceed

a

total

of

40

hours

per

12

fiscal

year,

when

a

death

occurs

in

the

immediate

family,

as

13

defined

by

rule

(11

IAC

63.3(11)).
