WHEREAS,
Senator
Cherielynn
Westrich
was
first
3
elected
to
serve
in
the
House
of
Representatives
in
4
November
2020,
and
soon
after
she
ran
for
the
Senate
5
and
was
elected
in
November
2022;
and
6
WHEREAS,
prior
to
being
elected,
Senator
Westrich
7
showed
her
remarkably
versatile
talents
as
a
vocalist,
8
songwriter,
comedian,
actress,
golfer,
fisher,
welder,
9
and
mechanic,
even
releasing
the
hit
song
“Life
of
P”
10
with
her
band
The
Rentals;
and
11
WHEREAS,
Senator
Westrich
spent
her
time
in
the
12
Senate
working
to
lower
taxes,
reduce
regulations,
13
decrease
government
spending,
promote
on-the-job
14
training
for
college
students,
protect
second
amendment
15
rights,
and
help
the
small
businesses
of
Iowa
grow;
and
16
WHEREAS,
the
efforts
of
Senator
Westrich
have
led
17
to
several
impactful
pieces
of
legislation,
including
18
ensuring
the
privacy
and
safety
of
children
in
school
19
restrooms
and
changing
areas,
strengthening
penalties
20
for
human
trafficking,
and
protecting
children
from
21
sexual
exploitation;
and
22
WHEREAS,
during
her
tenure
in
the
House
of
23
Representatives
and
the
Senate,
Senator
Westrich
24
served
as
a
member
of
the
Commerce,
Judiciary,
25
Local
Government,
Public
Safety
(vice
chairperson),
26
Education,
Ethics,
Natural
Resources
and
Environment,
27
and
State
Government
committees;
the
Justice
System

Senator
Westrich

her

Symphony
Orchestra,

Friends
of
the
National

Rifle
Association,
the
Izaak
Walton
League,
and
the

Heartland
Humane
Society;
NOW
THEREFORE,

BE
IT
RESOLVED
BY
THE
SENATE,
That
the
Senate
honors

Senator
Cherielynn
Westrich
for
her
service
in
the
11
Senate,
and
wishes
her
all
the
best
in
the
years
to

come.
