AN ACT concerning motor vehicles; providing cities the authority to allow
the driving of golf carts upon sidewalks; amending K.S.A. 8-1575 and
repealing the existing section.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
Section 1. K.S.A. 8-1575 is hereby amended to read as follows: 8-
1575. (a) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (b), no person shall
drive any vehicle upon a sidewalk or sidewalk area except upon a
permanent or duly authorized temporary driveway.
(b) The governing body of any city is hereby authorized, by ordinance
duly passed, to allow for the driving of a golf cart upon a sidewalk, as
defined in K.S.A. 8-1495, and amendments thereto, if the driver of the golf
cart is a person 16 years of age or older and holds a valid class C driver's
license.
Sec. 2. K.S.A. 8-1575 is hereby repealed.
Sec. 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
publication in the statute book.
