SENATE BILL No. 388

AN ACT concerning the residential landlord and tenant act; relating to fee
provisions in rental agreements; setting a maximum fee for the late
payment of rent.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
Section 1. (a) A landlord may charge a reasonable late fee for the late
payment of rent as set forth in a rental agreement. Such fee shall not
exceed 5% of the amount of the periodic rent.
(b) This section shall be a part of and supplemental to the residential
landlord and tenant act.
Sec. 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
publication in the statute book.
