By Committee on Ways and Means

AN ACT concerning the Kansas department of wildlife and parks;
requiring the secretary of wildlife and parks to prepare and present any
plan to reorganize the department to certain legislative committees;
requiring legislative approval for any such reorganization; amending
K.S.A. 2025 Supp. 32-806 and repealing the existing section.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
New Section 1. (a) Prior to any reorganization of the Kansas
department of wildlife and parks, the secretary of wildlife and parks shall
prepare and present a plan for any such reorganization to the senate
committee on agriculture and natural resources and the house of
representatives committee on agriculture and natural resources. The
secretary shall not implement or finalize any such reorganization unless
the plan for such reorganization has been approved by the legislature
through the adoption of a concurrent resolution.

limited to, restructuring, reclassification or consolidation of the department
or any division or employees of the department.
(c) This section shall expire on July 1, 2027.
Sec. 2. K.S.A. 2025 Supp. 32-806 is hereby amended to read as
follows: 32-806. Subject to section 1, and amendments thereto, the
secretary of wildlife and parks may organize the Kansas department of
wildlife and parks in the manner the secretary deems most efficient, so
long as the same is not in conflict with the provisions of this order or with
the provisions of law, and the secretary may establish policies governing
the transaction of business of the department and the administration of the
department. The secretary shall cause any compensation received by the
Kansas department of wildlife and parks, whether monetary, in-kind or
otherwise, from leases of real property under the control and jurisdiction
of the secretary to be accounted for and reflected in the budget of the
Kansas department of wildlife and parks.
Sec. 3. K.S.A. 2025 Supp. 32-806 is hereby repealed.
Sec. 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
