A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION declaring the right to adequate food. 1
WHEREAS, no living person should be without access to adequate food; and 2
WHEREAS, adequate food means having consistent physical and economic access 3
to safe, nutritious, and culturally acceptable food that meets the dietary needs for an 4
active, healthy lifestyle; and 5
WHEREAS, all people have a natural, inherent, and unalienable right to grow, 6
raise, harvest, produce, and consume food for their own nourishment, sustenance, bodily 7
health, and well-being; and 8
WHEREAS, the Commonwealth should prioritize the needs of underdeveloped 9
communities to grow food and establish the principles and bases for the promotio n, 10
protection, respect, and guarantee of the effective exercise of the right to adequate food 11
and interdependent rights; and 12
WHEREAS, the Commonwealth should promote planning and coordination 13
between state and local entities to guarantee the full exercise of the right to adequate 14
food; and 15
WHEREAS, all people shall have access to food for daily consumption, as well as 16
physical and economic access to safe food of nutritional quality and in sufficient quantity 17
to satisfy their physiological needs at all stages of their life cycle; 18
NOW, THEREFORE, 19
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the 20
Commonwealth of Kentucky, the Senate concurring therein: 21
Section 1. The members of the General Assembly declare that all people, 22
individually and collectively, have the right to adequate food at all times. 23
Section 2. The members of the General Assembly declare that the right to 24
adequate food enables each individual's full development and right to live a dignified life, 25
in accordance with individual and cultural needs, without jeopardizing the satisfaction of 26
other basic needs and without hindering the enjoyment of other rights. 27

Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a 1
