A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION urging Congress to create an accreditation 1

assisting veterans with their benefits. 3
WHEREAS, the men and women who have served our great Commonwealth and 4
nation deserve the benefits they have painstakingly earned through their time in uniform; 5
and 6
WHEREAS, the veterans of this Commonwealth h ave earned the right to make 7
their own decisions, especially when it comes to navigating the complex disability claims 8
process through the United States Department of Veterans Affairs; and 9
WHEREAS, this nation's veterans have routinely not received their f ull benefits 10
because the system designed to support them falls short; the process is often lengthy, 11
cumbersome, and inconsistent; and 12
WHEREAS, veterans often turn to private companies whose mission is to assist 13
veterans with their benefits claims by tackli ng the red tape and procuring medical 14
documentation and other necessary paperwork on behalf of the veterans using these 15
private companies; and 16
WHEREAS, these companies are often prohibited from fully helping veterans 17
because of the lack of clear guidance f rom Congress and the patchwork of states' laws 18
meant to deter the bad actors from harming veterans instead often hamstrings the good 19
actors; and 20
WHEREAS, currently there is not a commonsense pathway to accreditation through 21
the United States Department of Veterans Affairs for private companies to receive 22
accreditation; and 23
WHEREAS, Congress should act swiftly to pass the CHOICE for Veterans Act 24
(H.R. 3132) which creates a pathway for accreditation for private companies that aid 25
veterans in procuring their earned benefits; 26
NOW, THEREFORE, 27

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the 1
Commonwealth of Kentucky, the Senate concurring therein: 2
Section 1. The House of Representatives hereby urges Congress to create an 3
accreditation pathway through the United States Department of Veterans Affairs for 4
private companies assisting veterans with their benefits. 5
Section 2. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a 6
copy of this Resolution to the Kentucky Congressional delegation. 7
