A JOINT RESOLUTION designating the Cerulean Veterans Memorial Bridge in 1
Trigg County. 2
WHEREAS, the men and women of the United States Armed Forces have secured 3
and maintained the liberty and freedom of this nation for nearly 250 years; and 4
WHEREAS, the Armed Forces of this great nation have intervened in countless 5
conflicts around the world to stop the spread of tyranny and to allow the liberties we 6
enjoy to flourish around the world; and 7
WHEREAS, time and again throughout this nation's storied history, countless 8
soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines, many of them from Cerulean, Kentucky, have 9
served their country with courage, diligence, and honor; and 10
WHEREAS, one such soldier from Cerulean was Jerry Ardell Roberts who served 11
in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and made the ultimate sacrifice for 12
his country on July 5, 1966, during active combat; and 13
WHEREAS, the places that our servicemen and servic ewomen have gone to secure 14
and defend our liberties span the globe from Bunker Hill and the Alamo, to such far-flung 15
locales as Bastogne, Normandy, Iwo Jima, Inchon, Saigon, and Kuwait City; and 16
WHEREAS, both here at home and at military cemeteries around the world, row 17
upon row of plain white headstones pay testimony to the ultimate sacrifice made to 18
protect our freedom and way of life; and 19
WHEREAS, all Americans owe a debt of gratitude that we can never repay to the 20
men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces; and 21
WHEREAS, it is appropriate that Cerulean veterans are honored in a public and 22
tangible way; 23
NOW, THEREFORE, 24
Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 25
Section 1. The Transportation Cabinet shall designate the bridge on Kentucky 26
Route 124 in Trigg County at mile point 9.79 (Bridge ID #111B00004N) as the 27

"Cerulean Veterans Memorial Bridge," and shall, within 30 days of the effective date of 1
this Resolution, erect appropriate signage denoting this designation. 2
