A JOINT RESOLUTION designating the Don McKenzie Memorial Bridge in 1
Morgan County. 2
WHEREAS, Donald Henry "Don" McKenzie was born in Licking River, Kentucky, 3
the son of Victor Clay and Florence Wells McKenzie; and 4
WHEREAS, Don McKenzie married the love, of his life Wanetta Perry McKenzie, 5
on November 21, 1958, and they were blessed with three children, Terrie, Donna, and 6
Shawn; and 7
WHEREAS, in 1958, Don McKenzie founde d McKenzie's Pool and Lunchroom in 8
Morgan County, Kentucky, and operated the lunchroom for the rest of his life; and 9
WHEREAS, Don McKenzie also volunteered with the local Little League and 10
football programs in Morgan County; and 11
WHEREAS, Don Mckenzie's com mitment to the community of Morgan County 12
was recognized when he and his twin brother, Ronald, were chosen as Morgan County's 13
Outstanding Citizens of the Year in 1992; and 14
WHEREAS, Don McKenzie left this earth to meet his Heavenly Father on April 14, 15
2025, where he joined his loving wife, his parents and his siblings; and 16
WHEREAS, Don McKenzie is survived by his children, two grandchildren, one 17
great-granddaughter, and many other family members and friends who miss him dearly; 18
and 19
WHEREAS, for his service and kindness to the community, Don McKenzie is 20
worthy of honor and tangible public recognition in Morgan County; 21
NOW, THEREFORE, 22
Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 23
Section 1. The Transportation Cabinet shall designate the bridge located at 24
Morgan County High School over Caney Creek as the "Don McKenzie Memorial 25
Bridge" (BridgeID 088C00045N) and shall, within 30 days of the effective date of this 26
Resolution, erect appropriate signage denoting this designation. 27
