WHEREAS, Billy Gene Jones was born on January 25, 1947, to the late William 3
Hobert Jones and Dorothy McKenzie Jones; and 4
WHEREAS, Billy Gene Jones was a successful contractor, developer, and 5
businessman; and 6
WHEREAS, Billy Gene Jones, along with his brother Rudy, was a founder, owner, 7
and operator of Triple J Construction, Inc; special izing in highway construction and site 8
development; and 9
WHEREAS, Billy Gene Jones dream of building a golf course came true when his 10
company was awarded a road and bridge project on Kentucky Route 36 and they bought 11
the adjoining property and built the fro nt nine of the Carrington Golf Course in Bath 12
County; and 13
WHEREAS, Carrington Golf Course later expanded to 18 holes and thousands of 14
people have played golf at "The Rock"; and 15
WHEREAS, Billy Gene Jones and his brother Rudy later developed Rudy's Ranch 16
and Horse Camp, which has been visited by trail riders and campers from all over North 17
America; and 18
WHEREAS, in his spare time, Billy Gene Jones enjoyed spending time with his 19
family and friends, playing golf, fishing, going to Cave Run Lake, watching the 20
University of Kentucky sports teams, and attending high school athletic events; and 21
WHEREAS, most of all, Billy Gene Jones loved spending time with his grandson 22
Will, teaching him the game of golf and watching him play tournaments and basketball 23
games, never missing an event; 24
WHEREAS, Billy Gene Jones left these earthly bounds on August 4, 2021, and it is 25
fitting and proper that his contributions to his community should be tangibly recognized; 26
NOW, THEREFORE, 27

Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 1
Section 1. The Transportation Cabinet shall designate the bridge on Kentucky 2
Route 36, over Clark Fort in Bath County (Bridge ID# 006B00077N) as the "Billy G. 3
Jones Memorial Bridge" and shall, within 30 days of the effective date of this Resolution, 4
erect appropriate signage denoting this designation. 5
