A RESOLUTION recognizing May 2026 as Save Your Tooth Month in Kentucky. 1
WHEREAS, maintaining proper oral hygiene and preserving natural teeth are 2
essential for op timal oral health, which impacts patients' overall health and well -being; 3
and 4
WHEREAS, each year, over 25 million teeth are preserved through endodontic 5
treatments, including 15 million root canal procedures, emphasizing the importance of 6
saving natural teeth for improved appearance and maintaining essential functions such as 7
chewing and speech; and 8
WHEREAS, endodontists, as highly skilled dental specialists with two to three 9
additional years of training post dental school, utilize advanced technology and 10
specialized care to best treat tooth pain and infection; and 11
WHEREAS, endodontists excel in diagnosing and treating tooth pain and infection 12
through life -changing endodontic procedures, such as root canals, repairing traumatic 13
dental injuries, vital pulp th erapy, and apicoectomy, thereby safeguarding patients' 14
natural teeth; and 15
WHEREAS, endodontists dedicate their dental practice exclusively to endodontic 16
treatments, performing an average of 25 root canal treatments weekly; and 17
WHEREAS, endodontists frequen tly collaborate with general dentists to ensure 18
comprehensive dental care and employ a specialized approach that leads to better health 19
outcomes and swift recovery for patients; and 20
WHEREAS, teeth serve as vital components for nutrition, emotional expressi on, 21
and overall health indicators, and neglecting oral hygiene can lead to various health 22
complications; and 23
WHEREAS, regular dental visits, thorough brushing and flossing twice daily, and 24
avoiding cavity -causing foods and habits are essential steps in maintaining gum, teeth, 25
and mouth health; 26

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the 1
Commonwealth of Kentucky: 2
Section 1. The House of Representatives hereby designates May 2026 as Save 3
Your Tooth Month, acknowledges endodontists as leaders dedicated to saving patients' 4
natural teeth, and encourages the citizens of Kentucky to practice good oral hygiene to 5
save their natural teeth. 6
Section 2. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a 7
copy of this Resolution to Representative Lindsey Burke for delivery. 8
