A RESOLUTION recognizing April 2026 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in 1
Kentucky. 2
WHEREAS, the mission of Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky, in collaboration with 3
their partners, is to prevent the abuse and neglect of Kentucky's children through 4
advocacy, awareness, education, and training; and 5
WHEREAS, there are more than 340 Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky partners 6
throughout the Commonwealth, with at least two partners in each of Kentucky's 120 7
counties; and 8
WHEREAS, April has historically been declared Child Abuse Prevention Month by 9
presidential and gubernatorial proclamations; and 10
WHEREAS, to ensure our children and families are supported and our communities 11
thrive, we must demonstrate our commitment to spreading awareness of child abuse 12
prevention within our own spheres of influence; and 13
WHEREAS, Wear Blue Day will be observed on April 1, 2026; and 14
WHEREAS, each member of the General Assembly is encouraged to wear blue on 15
April 1, 2026 to draw attention to the role each of us plays in the prevention of child 16
abuse and neglect; and 17
WHEREAS, the blue and silver pinwheel is the national symbol for child abuse 18
prevention; and 19
WHEREAS, there will be more than 3,000 blue and silver pinwheels planted on the 20
grounds of the Kentucky State Capitol to honor the children of the Commonwealth and 21
recognize April 2026 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Kentucky; 22
NOW, THEREFORE, 23
Be it reso lved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the 24
Commonwealth of Kentucky: 25
Section 1. The House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Kentucky 26
does hereby recognize April 2026 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Kentucky to 27

promote increased awareness of child abuse prevention in Kentucky. 1
Section 2. The House of Representatives acknowledges Prevent Child Abuse 2
Kentucky as a statewide leader in child abuse prevention efforts. 3
Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a 4
copy of this Resolution to Representative Nick Wilson. 5
