A RESOLUTION recognizing January 21, 2026, as Certified Registered Nurse 1
Anesthetists Day in Kentucky. 2
WHEREAS, certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) are advanced practice 3
registered nurses who are among the most trusted healthcare professionals, have been 4
providing anesthesia care to patients in the United States for more than 150 years, and 5
safely administering more than 45 million anesthetics to patients each year; and 6
WHEREAS, CRNAs are the primary anesthesia providers in rural communities, 7
continue to be the primary providers of anesthesia care to United States military 8
personnel, and comprise two -thirds of the anesthesia providers in the Commonwealth; 9
and 10
WHEREAS, CRNAs practice in every setting in which anesthesia is delivered 11
including traditional hospital surgical suites and obstetrical delivery rooms, the offices of 12
dentists, podiatrists, ophthalmologists, and plastic surgeons, and ambulatory surgi cal 13
centers; and 14
WHEREAS, CRNAs are the sole providers of anesthesia services in nearly half of 15
the counties in Kentucky; and 16
WHEREAS, CRNAs are qualified to make independent judgments regarding all 17
aspects of anesthesia care based on their education, training, and licensure; and 18
WHEREAS, CRNAs have been the main providers of anesthesia care to U.S. 19
military personnel on the front lines since the Civil War; 20
NOW, THEREFORE, 21
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the 22
Commonwealth of Kentucky: 23
Section 1. The members of the House of Representatives do hereby recognize 24
January 21, 2026, as Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists Day in Kentucky. 25
Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in 26
honor, recognition, and celebration of Kentucky's certified registered nurse anesthetists 27

and to highlight the importance of their role in providing high-quality care for the citizens 1
of the Commonwealth. 2
