A RESOLUTION recognizing March 16 to 20, 2026, as Neurodiversity Celebration 1
Week in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. 2
WHEREAS, neurodiversity includes experiences suc h as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, 3
auditory processing disorder, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder; and 4
WHEREAS, one in seven Americans are neurodivergent, and approximately 83,000 5
Kentuckians are on the autism spectrum; and 6
WHEREAS, scientific research has identified multiple factors that may increase the 7
likelihood of a neurodiversity diagnosis, including environmental, biological, and genetic 8
factors; and 9
WHEREAS, outdated language that frames neurodiversity as a "chronic disease" or 10
"epidemic" misre presents the experience of neurodiverse individuals and fuels stigma, 11
discrimination, and systemic barriers; and 12
WHEREAS, it is estimated that 88 percent of individuals on the autism spectrum 13
are unemployed; and 14
WHEREAS, despite stereotypes and struggles e xisting in many settings, 15
neurodivergent people offer unique talents to their workplaces, schools, and 16
communities; and 17
WHEREAS, established in 2018 by Siena Castellon, a student with autism, 18
dyslexia, dyspraxia, and ADHD, Neurodiversity Celebration Week i s a worldwide 19
initiative that challenges stereotypes and misconceptions about autism and learning 20
disabilities; and 21
WHEREAS, Neurodiversity Celebration Week aims to create inclusive and 22
equitable cultures that celebrate differences and empower all individuals; and 23
WHEREAS, it is imperative that there be greater public awareness of the unique 24
strengths and potential of n eurodivergent people, and more must be done to increase 25
activity at the local, state, and national levels to support neurodivergent people as well as 26
their families; 27

NOW, THEREFORE, 1
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the 2
Commonwealth of Kentucky: 3
Section 1. The House of Representatives hereby recognizes March 16 to 20, 4
2026, as Neurodiversity Celebration Week in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. 5
Section 2. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a 6
copy of this Resolution to Representative Daniel Grossberg. 7
