A RESOLUTION expressing support for Iranian protesters who are resisting the 1
oppressive Iranian regime. 2
WHEREAS, following the collapse of the Iranian Rial due to i nternational 3
sanctions, high inflation fueled by government deficit spending, domestic economic 4
mismanagement, and systematic corruption, the Iranian public banded together in protest 5
against the current Iranian regime; and 6
WHEREAS, the protests began in s mall towns and communities but quickly spread 7
across the country, as workers from all backgrounds began to strike and demand livable 8
wages and fair treatment; and 9
WHEREAS, what began as a protest against runaway inflation and currency 10
devaluation evolved i nto a full rejection of theocratic dictatorship. As ongoing strikes 11
paralyzed Iran's economy, university students joined the movement, creating a unified 12
front that bridged the gap between the traditional merchant class and the nation's youth; 13
and 14
WHEREAS, on December 31, 2025, the confrontation between the public and the 15
regime escalated sharply when protestors began storming government buildings in the 16
southern city of Fasa, despite live fire from security forces; and 17
WHEREAS, on January 15, 2026, the nat ionwide uprising against the Iranian 18
regime reached a pivotal turning point. As protests spread to more than 200 cities across 19
the country, the regime began a brutal campaign to crack down on protesters using any 20
means to gain control, including firing on unarmed protesters and hiring foreign 21
mercenaries to bolster regime forces; and 22
WHEREAS, during the course of this ongoing national uprising, the Iranian regime 23
has executed more than 3,000 civilians, with some estimates as high as 20,000, and 24
instituted nationwide internet blackouts to conceal the truth of what the regime is doing to 25
the people it is supposed to protect; and 26
WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Kentucky condemns this brutal crackdown on 27

the Iranian people who only seek fair wages, fair treatment, and to live in a place where 1
they can see a future for themselves and those they care about; and 2
WHEREAS, our great Commonwealth stands in solidarity with the Iranian 3
protesters and extends its support to those who are fighting for change and the belief that 4
everyone deserves dignity and self-determination; 5
NOW, THEREFORE, 6
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the 7
Commonwealth of Kentucky: 8
Section 1. The members of the House of Representatives, both collectively and 9
individually, affirm their support for the Iranian people and express the hope that they are 10
one day free from oppression and no longer have to live in fear of economic collapse and 11
government retaliation. 12
Section 2. The members of the House of Representatives, both collectively and 13
individually, offer heartfelt condolences to all the victims of the Iranian regime's 14
brutality, as well as their families and communities. 15
Section 3. The House of Representatives condemns the brutal oppression of the 16
Iranian people by the Iranian regime. 17
Section 4. When the House of Representatives adjou rns this day, it does so in 18
recognition of the Commonwealth's unwavering support for the Iranian people. 19
Section 5. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a 20
copy of this Resolution to Representative Daniel Grossberg. 21
