A RESOLUTION commemorating the 80th Southern Legislative Conference of the 1
Council of State Governments Southern Office. 2
WHEREAS, the Council of State Governments , CSG South, is a nonpartisan, 3
nonprofit member organization that serves the Southern legislatures of Alabama, 4
Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, 5
Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia; and 6
WHEREAS, with regionally based state leadership and perspective, and national -7
level resources, CSG South provides Southern legislators and government staff with a 8
wide variety of programs and services that facilitate regional cooperatio n and encourage 9
the exchange of information; and 10
WHEREAS, the mission of the organization is to serve as a community of the 11
states, committed to connecting, informing, inspiring, and empowering public servants in 12
all three branches of state government to p ut the best ideas and solutions into practice; 13
and 14
WHEREAS, in pursuit of this mission, CSG South has convened the Southern 15
Legislative Conference for the past 79 years, with decades of fellowship and cooperation 16
among the 15 Southern states; and 17
WHEREAS, the 80th Southern Legislative Conference will convene in Lexington, 18
Kentucky, from July 11 to 15, 2026; and 19
WHEREAS, more than 1,500 Southern legislators, government staff, and their 20
families will gather to discuss policy matters specifically affecting Sou thern states to 21
bridge commonalities and discuss solutions for current policy trends, challenges, and 22
opportunities; 23
NOW, THEREFORE, 24
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the 25
Commonwealth of Kentucky: 26
Section 1. The members of the House of Representatives highlight and 27

commend the annual Southern Legislative Conference, and welcome all Southern 1
legislative, executive, and judicial officials to attend. 2
Section 2. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a 3
copy of this Resolution to Representative David Meade. 4
