A RESOLUTION recognizing March 8 to 14, 2026, as Multiple Sclerosis 1
Awareness Week in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. 2
WHEREAS, multiple sclerosis (MS) is an unpredic table, often disabling disease of 3
the central nervous system affecting nearly 1 million people in the United States alone; 4
and 5
WHEREAS, MS affects many thousands of individuals in the Commonwealth of 6
Kentucky; and 7
WHEREAS, most people are diagnosed with mu ltiple sclerosis between the ages of 8
20 and 50; and 9
WHEREAS, the exact cause of MS is unknown and no cure currently exists; and 10
WHEREAS, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society is committed to a world free of 11
MS, raising public knowledge about the disease and elevating the voices of those affected 12
by it; and 13
WHEREAS, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society has transformed what it means 14
to live with MS and provided global leadership to speed discoveries to help achieve a 15
vision of a world free of MS; and 16
WHEREAS, since 1946, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society has been a driving 17
force of MS research, relentlessly pursuing prevention, treatments, and cures, and has 18
invested more than 1 billion dollars in groundbreaking research; and 19
WHEREAS, funds raised through the National Multiple Sclerosis Society align 20
worldwide resources and fuel research on pathways to MS cures; and 21
WHEREAS, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society invests in the next generation 22
of MS researchers through fellows hips and training, leading to many breakthroughs in 23
MS; and 24
WHEREAS, the mission of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society is to cure MS 25
while empowering people affected by MS to live their best lives and is one that all 26
Americans and Kentuckians should support; and 27

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Kentucky recognizes the importance of finding 1
the cause and cures for MS and expresses its appreciation for the dedication that the 2
National Multiple Sclerosis Society Kentucky -Tennessee Chapter has shown toward 3
creating a world free of MS; 4
NOW, THEREFORE, 5
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the 6
Commonwealth of Kentucky: 7
Section 1. The House of Representatives does hereby recognize March 8 to 14, 8
2026, as Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Week in Kentucky. 9
Section 2. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a 10
copy of this Resolution to Representative Erika Hancock for delivery. 11
