AN ACT relating to local government. 1
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 2
Section 1. KRS 67.035 is amended to read as follows: 3
(1) In all counties with a land area of more than 750 square miles, the sheriff and 4
county clerk, when authorized by resolution of the fiscal court, may each maintain a 5
branch office in any incorporated or unin corporated city of the county other than 6
the county seat. 7
(2) The sheriff and county clerk, when authorized by the fiscal court, may appoint one 8
(1) or more deputies for the branch office. The salaries to be paid said deputies 9
together with the office ren t and other expenses incidental to maintaining branch 10
offices shall be considered as a part of the necessary expenses of the respective 11
officers and shall be paid in the manner now provided by law for those[such] 12
expenses. 13
(3) Branch offices as authorized by the fiscal court may be used for the same purposes 14
as those for which the offices at the county seat are used; provided, however, that 15
all records must be kept at the county seat. The period of time such branch offices 16
shall be maintained, and the offi ce hours, shall be fixed by the fiscal court. The 17
compensation of the deputy in charge of the branch office shall be fixed in the same 18
manner as the compensation of deputies serving at the county seat office. The 19
sheriff and county clerk shall remain liabl e on their bonds for all funds collected by 20
the branch offices. 21
