Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 3
SECTION 1. A NEW SECTION OF KRS CHAPTER 61 IS CREATED TO 4
READ AS FOLLOWS: 5
(1) As used in this section: 6
(a) "Jail Enforcement Model" means the United States Immigration and 7
Customs Enforcement program that authorizes state and local law 8
enforcement officers to identify and process removable aliens who are in a 9
jail or detention facility and have pending or active criminal charges; 10
(b) "Task Force Model" means the United States Immigration and Customs 11
Enforcement program that authorizes state and local law enforcement 12
officers to enforce limited immigration authority while performing routine 13
police duties; and 14
(c) "Warrant Service Officer Model" means the United States Immigration and 15
Customs Enforcement program that authorizes state and local law 16
enforcement officers to serve and execute administrative warrants on 17
removable aliens who are in custody. 18
(2) Each local law enforcement agency and the Department of Kentucky State Police 19
shall enter into written agreements with the United States Immigration and 20
Customs Enforcement to participate in the Jail Enforcement Model, Task Force 21
Model, and Warrant Service Offic er Model programs established under Section 22
287(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, 8 U.S.C. sec. 1357. 23
