A JOINT RESOLUTION designating the Gary Lee Egelston Memorial Highway in 1
Menifee County. 2
WHEREAS, Gary Lee Egelston was born in Miamisburg, Ohio, the son of Chest er 3
"Peanut" and Mary Egelston; and 4
WHEREAS, Gary Egelston moved to this Commonwealth, where he developed a 5
deep love for his community, and gained a strong love of helping others; and 6
WHEREAS, Gary Egelston graduated from Menifee County High School, and wa s 7
drafted into the Vietnam War at age 20 in 1968, where he faithfully served and was 8
awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze 9
Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Air 10
Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Bronze Star Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, a 11
"V" Device for Valor; and 12
WHEREAS, following his service, Gary Egelston returned home to Frenchburg, 13
and started a family with his dear wife, Joanne Combs; and 14
WHEREAS, Gary Egelston served his community for many years as the Menifee 15
County Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief; and 16
WHEREAS, Gary Egelston was also a faithful and committed member of 17
Fellowship Christian Assembly; and 18
WHEREAS, Gary Egelston left this world to meet his he avenly Father on October 19
21, 2025, where he joined his wife and his parents; and 20
WHEREAS, Gary Egelston is survived by his daughter, Marybeth, (Brad) Thomas; 21
grandsons, Tyler (Andrea) Thomas and Ryan (Madison) Thomas; brother, Paul (Karen) 22
Egelston; and 23
WHEREAS, for his service to his country, community, and family, Gary Lee 24
Egelston is worthy of honor and tangible public recognition in Menifee County; 25
NOW, THEREFORE, 26
Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 27

Section 1. The Transportation Cabinet shall designate the portion of US 460 1
West from mile marker 7.1 to mile marker 8.4 in Menifee County as the "Gary Lee 2
Egelston Memorial Highway" and shall, within 30 days of the effective date of this 3
Resolution, erect appropriate signage denoting this designation. 4
