A RESOLUTION honoring Marie Childers for her service as the longest -serving 1

WHEREAS, Marie Childers served as the Republican member of the Pike County 3
Board of Elections for over 36 years until her retirement in 2026; and 4
WHEREAS, according to records maintained by the Kentucky State Board of 5
Elections, Marie Childers is likely the longest -serving Republican m ember of a county 6
board of elections in Kentucky history; and 7
WHEREAS, Marie Childers is a lifelong Republican, is known as the Grand Dame 8
of the Pike County Republican Party, served as a past chairman of the Pike County 9
Republican Party, and through her e ight decades of hard work on behalf of the 10
Republican Party has steadfastly upheld the values of the Party of Lincoln, including the 11
right of every American to enjoy life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; and 12
WHEREAS, in her capacity as the Republican member of the Pike County Board of 13
Elections, Marie Childers has worked in a bipartisan manner with both Republican and 14
Democratic state and county officials to ensure the integrity of the ballot for the voters of 15
Pike County; and 16
WHEREAS, Marie Childers, through her service as the Republican member of the 17
Pike County Board of Elections, has served as a role model for men and women of all 18
ages, and the amazing growth of the Pike County Republican Party is a living testament 19
to her lifetime of hard work to advance conservative Christian values and free and fair 20

NOW, THEREFORE, 22
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 23
Kentucky: 24
Section 1. The Senate honors Marie Childers for her years of exceptional 25
service, leadership, and integrity as the longest -serving Republican member of the Pike 26
County Board of Elections and her impressive contributions to the astounding growth of 27
