A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Joseph H. 1
Mattingly, Jr. 2
WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr., was a born in Louisville on August 4, 1932, 3
and was the son of Hubie and Josephine Fleig Mattingly; and 4
WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr., was a valued member of the Loretto 5
community in Marion County, where he operated the Mattingly Funeral Home and, 6
earlier, the Loretto Barber Shop; and 7
WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr., was a dedicated community servant, serving 8
five terms as the Marion County Coroner, as well as serving his country in the United 9
States Army, serving both roles with honor, integrity, and distinction; and 10
WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr., served God as a faithful member of the Saint 11
Francis of Assisi Church; and 12
WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr., was the loving and beloved husband of 13
Carolyn Masterson Mattingly, to whom he was married 67 years; and 14
WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingl y, Jr., was the loving and beloved father of Donna 15
(Stephen Brady) Mattingly, Joe (Carol) Mattingly, Alan (Cyndi) Mattingly, Norine 16
(Bruce) Masterson, Laura (Wayne) Mitchell, and Gail Boggs; and 17
WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr., was the loving and beloved grandfather of 18
Elizabeth (Aaron) Lanning, Matthew Smith, Christine (Cole) Sinkford, Nicole (Jordan 19
Patterson) Mattingly, Kelly Mattingly, Alex Mattingly, Joseph Mattingly, Eric 20
(Christianne) Masterson, Andrew Masterson, Daniel (Rachael) Masterson, Brooke 21
Mitchell, Blake Mitchell, Katie Boggs, Benjamin Boggs, Abby Boggs, and Josie Boggs; 22
and 23
WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr., was the loving and beloved great -grandfather 24
of Cooper Burrice, Jack Burrice, Clay Sinkford, Matthew Masterson, Henry Masterson, 25
James Masterson, Patrick Masterson, Noah Masterson, Emmaline Masterson, and Maria 26
Josephine Masterson; and 27

WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr. was the loving and beloved brother of Betty 1
Ackermann, Carol Mattingly, Brenda Mattingly, Mary Thornberry, Patsy Clements, 2
Rosie (Michael) Bickett, Nancy Mattingly, Billy (Libby) Mattingly and Lynn (David) 3
Hall; and 4
WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr. was the brother of Robert K. Mattingly and 5
David Louis Mattingly, Rita Carol Mattingly, and the father -in-law of David W. Boggs, 6
all of whom preceded him in passing; and 7
WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr., departed this earthl y life on February 23, 8
2026; 9
NOW, THEREFORE, 10
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 11
Kentucky: 12
Section 1. The Senate hereby expresses its most profound sympathy upon the 13
passing of Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr., and extends heartfelt condolences to his family, 14
friends, and community. 15
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 16
memory of Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr. 17
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 18
Resolution to Senator Jimmy Higdon for delivery to the family. 19
